IGF-1 LR3-1mg
$79.97
IGF-1 LR3 (Long Arginine 3 Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) is a synthetic, highly potent analog of endogenous human IGF-1. It consists of the complete 70-amino-acid sequence of human IGF-1, modified by the substitution of a glutamic acid for an arginine at position 3 (hence R3) and the addition of a 13-amino-acid extension peptide at the N-terminus (making a total of 83 amino acids). These structural changes drastically reduce its affinity for all known IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs). As a result, IGF-1 LR3 remains free and biologically active in experimental systems, exhibiting a vastly extended half-life and enhanced molecular potency compared to native IGF-1.
Key Features & Characteristics
- Mechanism of Action: Binds directly to the Type 1 IGF Receptor (IGF-1R) to trigger the PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK intracellular signaling cascades.
- Reduced Binding Affinity: Modifications block binding to inhibitory IGFBPs, preventing the sequestration and rapid clearance that limits native IGF-1.
- Extended Pharmacokinetics: Possesses an extended biological half-life of approximately 20–30 hours in laboratory models, compared to the minutes-long lifespan of standard IGF-1.
- Physical Form: Produced via recombinant DNA technology and supplied as a highly stable, sterile-filtered lyophilized powder optimized for laboratory reconstitution.
Primary Research Applications
- Cellular Hyperplasia & Muscle Growth: Extensively studied in musculoskeletal research to observe satellite cell activation, muscle fiber proliferation (hyperplasia), and nitrogen retention.
- Tissue Repair & Chondrogenesis: Investigated for its capacity to accelerate structural protein synthesis, repair damaged connective tissue, and support cartilage matrix formation.
- Nutrient Partitioning & Upregulation: Evaluated in metabolic models to analyze its role in driving amino acid and glucose transport directly into cell cultures to study metabolic enhancement.
For Research Use Only. Not for human consumption, therapeutic, or diagnostic use.
